Straightening Crooked Photos
Tilt correction addresses one of the most common photo imperfections: a crooked horizon or slightly angled shot. The tool rotates the image around its center while maintaining the original dimensions. Because rotation creates empty corners, the tool fills these areas by expanding the image edges. The result is a properly leveled photo. Tilt correction is especially important for architectural photography, landscapes with visible horizons, and any image containing straight reference lines. Even a 1-2 degree tilt can make a photo feel off-balance, and correcting it is one of the quickest ways to improve a photo professional appearance.
- Use a reference like a horizon or building edge to judge straightness
- Small adjustments (1-3 degrees) make the biggest difference
- For architecture photos, correct tilt before cropping
- Extreme angles lose image quality at the edges
Frequently Asked Questions
How to straighten?
Upload the photo and drag the angle slider until horizontal or vertical lines look straight. Empty corners are filled automatically.
Max angle?
The tool supports -45 to +45 degrees. For most straightening you only need -5 to +5 degrees.
Quality loss?
Rotation uses bicubic interpolation to minimize quality loss. Some softening is normal at extreme angles.
